The chairs shells were made on the 24th April 1972 and all chairs have the associated stamps underneath. The shells and stamps are both excellent condition. There are no cracks and are structurally sound.
 
The fibreglass hairs are clearly visible which adds depth and interest which the modern versions sadly lack.
 
The chairs sit on replacement walnut DSW dowel bases
 
Story of the DSW Chair:
 
Epitomising the playful, functionality of mid-century American design, the DSW Chair by Charles and Ray Eames feels as fresh today as when it was first introduced over 60 years ago. A wonderfully crafted, in fiberglass by Herman Miller, later models switched to a polypropylene seat.
 
The organic seat, or “shell” as it’s often referred to, has a curvaceous, organic form that allows for a comfortable sit while still providing firm posture support.
